Scientists at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and the University of British Columbia are studying methylation patterns to ultimately discover a biomarker for autism early in childhood development. The focus of the research is the region of the placental genome with hypo-methylation patterns which have been found to code for genes involved in neuronal development
