Center/Program Highlights: The Center for Drug Discovery (CDD) at Northeastern University is dedicated to multidisciplinary research aimed at the discovery of new thereapeutic medications. Founded by Alexandros Makriyannis, the CDD strives to discover safe and effective medications for pain and inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, neuropsychiatric disorders, drug abuse and addiction, metabolic disorders and cancer. Much of our work involves the elucidation of the endocannabinoid system and the synthesis of cannabinergic ligands, as well as seratonergic compounds.
